PayLaju Malaysia Review — Legit or Scam?
PayLaju markets itself as an "interest-free, Sharia-compliant" loan app in Malaysia. We investigated thoroughly — and found multiple serious red flags that every potential borrower should know about before sharing any personal data.
Multiple Red Flags Found — Read First
Our research found: ScamAdviser trust score of 0 (Likely Unsafe), a phishing flag from IPQS, a domain registered only in June 2025, conflicting company information, and a free Gmail address as the official contact. We cannot recommend PayLaju. Verify independently before any engagement.
What Is PayLaju?
PayLaju (app: "Paylaju EX" on Google Play) is an online cash loan platform marketed to Malaysians as interest-free and Sharia-compliant.
| Detail | What We Found |
|---|---|
| App name | Paylaju EX (com.paylaju.ex) |
| Marketed as | "Interest-free, Sharia-compliant" |
| Actual rate advertised in app | Up to 18% p.a. (contradicts "interest-free") |
| Loan amount | From RM500 |
| Tenure | 90–180 days |
| Claimed operator | Wangsa Laju Sdn Bhd |
| Domain WHOIS owner | DuitKini Marketing (Kunak, Sabah) — mismatch |
| Official contact | cs.paylaju@gmail.com (free Gmail — red flag) |
| KPKT license number | Not found |
| SSM number | Not found |
| Domain registered | June 18, 2025 (very new) |
The Red Flags Explained
🚩 Red Flag #1: "Interest-Free" but Charges 18% p.a.
PayLaju's marketing claims it's "interest-free and Sharia-compliant" — but the actual app listing advertises rates up to 18% p.a. A genuinely interest-free product cannot charge 18% interest. This contradiction is a major warning sign.
🚩 Red Flag #2: ScamAdviser Score of 0
The domain paylaju.com.my received a ScamAdviser trust score of 0 out of 100 ("Likely Unsafe"). IPQS (a fraud detection service) flagged the domain for phishing.
🚩 Red Flag #3: Conflicting Company Identity
- Press release names the operator as "Wangsa Laju Sdn Bhd"
- But the domain WHOIS registration shows "DuitKini Marketing" in Kunak, Sabah
A legitimate company's name should match across its website registration and corporate documents. This mismatch is concerning.
🚩 Red Flag #4: Free Gmail as Official Contact
The official contact is cs.paylaju@gmail.com — a free Gmail address, not a corporate email (e.g., support@paylaju.com.my). Established licensed lenders use domain-based business emails.
🚩 Red Flag #5: Brand-New Domain + Paid PR
The domain was registered June 2025. The "press coverage" appears to be paid syndication (GetNews-style), not genuine independent reporting.
No Verifiable License
We could NOT find any KPKT moneylending license number or SSM registration number for PayLaju. Under Malaysian law, licensed moneylenders must display a license in format WL####/##/##-#/######. Without this, you have no legal protection.
How to Protect Yourself
Before engaging with PayLaju or any loan app:
- Check i-KrediKom — Official KPKT app. Search for the company. No result = not licensed.
- Check BNM Financial Consumer Alert — bnm.gov.my → see if it's on the scam warning list
- Never pay upfront — No licensed lender charges fees before disbursement
- Verify the license number — If they can't provide a WL-format number, walk away

Frequently Asked Questions
Is PayLaju legit or a scam?
We cannot confirm PayLaju is legitimate. It carries multiple red flags: ScamAdviser score 0, a phishing flag, a brand-new domain, conflicting company names, and no verifiable KPKT license. We strongly recommend verifying independently via i-KrediKom and BNM before any engagement.
Is PayLaju really interest-free and Sharia-compliant?
PayLaju markets itself this way, but the actual app advertises rates up to 18% p.a. — which contradicts the "interest-free" claim. Be very cautious of this discrepancy.
Is PayLaju on the BNM scam list?
As of our research we could not confirm its status either way. Check the BNM Financial Consumer Alert List directly at bnm.gov.my for the latest. Note that absence from the list does not mean a platform is safe.
What should I do if I already used PayLaju?
Monitor your bank account and stop any further payments if you suspect fraud. Report to BNM (1-300-88-5465), and if money was lost, file a police report with PDRM Cyber Crime (cybercrimealert.com.my). Revoke app permissions and consider changing banking passwords.
What is a safe alternative to PayLaju?
BNM-licensed digital banks: GX Bank FlexiCredit (3.78% p.a.), TNG GOpinjam, or AEON Bank — all PIDM-protected and BNM-regulated. For those who don't qualify, KPKT-licensed moneylenders verified via i-KrediKom.
